♥ The Wire - now cancelled HBO TV series about police and players in Baltimore. The stories are described from both perspectives and are usually grim, gritty, violent, complex, and in-your-face realistic. Any potential for heroes in the show are shown in their totality - flaws and all. The inverse is true for apparent villians.
This show tight gees!

✖ My one reservation would be that the cord is thick and chunky (this is good for insulation but not so good for moving around).

♥ Samurai Jack - sadly cancelled (but unfinished) animated series. Each episode used stunning hand-painted backdrops, an elegant mixture of silence and action (reminiscent of Sergio Leone films) and a compelling, inventive plot.
